I decided to go in to work late that morning. I was in the bathroom shaving. I had the TV on in the bedroom and I was listening to the launch. I heard that "Roger, go at throttle up" and then I heard a voice say "Oh no, my God no". I stepped out just in time to see the smoke and it was obvious that no one was going to survived that.
